Abbye Powell Silcox

Abbye Powell Silcox, 95, of Green Cove Springs, FL went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 24, 2010. She was born on July 7, 1914 in Belmore, FL to parents Louis and Mary Powell. Mrs. Silcox moved to her home in Clay County in 1927, where she lived until the Lord called her home. She was a loyal and faithful member of Russell Baptist Church, which she joined at the age of 13. Mrs. Silcox loved to serve her Lord and Savior. She was a Sunday school teacher, for the past 62 years and a former pianist for Russell Baptist Church. She retired from the Clay County School Board as a former bus driver and the manager of a school cafeteria. Abbye will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a child of God. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years J.D. Silcox (1985); daughter, Mary Jo Silcox Lee; grandson, Larry Lee. She is survived by her son, C. “David” Silcox; brother, Jay “Bon” Powell (Martha); sister, Ellen Moody (Herbert); grandchildren, Marilyn Lee, Ray Lee (Cheryle), Darlene Green and Gidgette Lewis (Rob); great grandchildren, Seth, Mikaela, Abbye, Robbie, Autumn and Summer; great great granddaughter, Charlene. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, March 26, 2010 at Russell Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Russell Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Baker, Associate Pastor Jim White and Reverend Tim Hall officiating.
