Thurman Randall Thacker

Thurman Randall Thacker, 75, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010. He was born on April 28, 1935 in Weeksbury, KY to parents, Thurman and Dortha Thacker. Mr. Thacker served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a retired Sanitation Engineer from the City of Detroit and a former Corrections Officer in Raiford, FL. Mr. Thacker was the former owner of the Little Basket Market in Green Cove Springs and loved playing drums and guitar and performing in a Country & Western band. He was preceded in death by his parents and by the love of his life, his wife, Betty. Survivors include his children, Richard Thacker (Sherry), Steven Thacker, Sean Thacker and John Thacker (Patty); daughter-in-law, Penny Thacker; sisters, Patty Azzinaro (Bill) and Doris Shepherd (Patrick “Mick”); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Brother Mike King officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel beginning at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
