Emmitt Paul Parrish, 53, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. He was born on October 21, 1956 in Portsmouth, VA to parents Murlan and Ella Parrish. Mr. Parrish had lived in the Green Cove Springs area for over 50 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Emmitt worked for the Clay County School Board for 15 years as a Maintenance Mechanic. He was a true craftsman who enjoyed time spent working and tinkering in his yard on anything mechanical. One of Emmitts favorite sayings was “One mans junk is another mans treasure”. He enjoyed fishing and boating but mostly time spent with his family. Emmitt will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Dennis Parrish. Emmitt is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cheryl Parrish; mother, Ella Nora Parrish; children, Edward, Carrie, Evan and Samuel Parrish; brother, Richard (Yvonne) Parrish; niece, Lori (John) Roling; nephew, Johnny (Michelle) Parrish; 5 great niece’s and 1 great nephew. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Broadus-Raines Chapel officiated by Reverend Gary French, Dr. Tim McDaniel and Reverend Mike Madaris.
