Anna "Betty" Elizabeth Rowlls

Anna “Betty” Rowlls, 91, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010. She was born on June 3, 1918 in Newport News, VA to parents Noah and Lillian Lister. She moved to the local area in 1948 from Gadsden, AL. Mrs. Rowlls retired after 28 years of service from The Bank of Green Cove as a Senior Bank Officer. Betty was a loyal and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Green Cove Springs. Mrs. Rowlls was a deeply religious woman and was very fond of Angels. She was a life time member of the Eastern Star and the Village Improvement Association (VIA) in Green Cove Springs. Betty also volunteered her time at the Orange Park Medical Center. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and cooking. Her family will tell you that she woke up every morning singing, “Good Morning Merry Sunshine.” She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Frank Rowlls in 1964 and is survived by her daughter, Sharon (James) Padgett; sisters, Jo Barnes, Kathleen Countryman and Phyllis Markle; grandson, Will (Leslie) Padgett and great grandchildren, Nicholas Padgett and Haley Thill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, May 28, 2010 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 29, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Green Cove Springs with Chaplain James Countryman officiating.
