Patricia "Pat" Layky

Patricia “Pat” Layky, 89, of Middleburg, FL passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010. She was born on March 6, 1921 in Bellingham, WA to parents William and Clara O’Connor. Mrs. Layky moved to the local area in 1995 from Chicago, IL. She was of the Catholic faith and has been a loyal member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Middleburg, FL since 1995. She did weekly devotions at the church. Patricia loved to give back to her community. She worked as a volunteer for many organizations such as, Orange Park Medical Center, a Respite care giver and Meals on Wheels. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Pat even started crocheting lap pads for the Disabled American Veterans. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Alfred Layky, Jr. in 1995 and is survived by her daughters; Sharon (Ronald) Heath, Patricia Layky, Elizabeth “Betty” (Daniel) Katzmire and Theresa Hanks; brother Robert (Joann) O’Connor; grandchildren, Sherry, Mark (Debbie), Cheryl (Troy), David (Maria), Thomas and Robin (Nathan); great grandchildren, Lauren, Steven, Devon, Darien, Jessie, Hailey, Keri, Kevin and Katelin and a great great grandson, Rylan. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, June 26, 2010 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Middleburg, FL, 1606 Blanding Blvd., with Father Edward Rooney officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30 am until service time. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
