Douglas M. Sherrell

Douglas M. Sherrell, 88, of Middleburg, FL, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010. He was born on January 31, 1922 in Wellston, OK to parents, David and Gladys Sherrell. Mr. Sherrell was a retired truck driver for Transcon Freight Line and was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post 1988 in Green Cove Springs, FL. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking care of his lawn on his John Deere tractor. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Nelda M. Sherrell; son, Douglas G. Sherrell; daughters, Debbie N. Presley (Terry), Brenda F. Sherrell, Beverly A. Stewart (Tim) and Mary L. Carpenter; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 2, 2010 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating.
