Ramona Chartowich

Ramona was born to Odell Sybley and Bertha Martin on September 28, 1929 in Burlington, NC. Growing up, Ramona knew what hard work was all about as she started at a young age working in the family tobacco fields. She was employed at the Medical Center of Delaware for 15 years in the communications department. Ramona married Rocco Colikeo on September 4, 1948. They were blessed with 9 children. Three went to heaven before their life on earth began and their son, Vincent preceded her in death on March 11, 2007 at the age of 49. Ramona married David Harrington June 28, 1975. She became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in 1990 when David joined Sebastian River, FL Lodge #1767. In 1991 Ramona joined joined the Sabastian River, FL Chapter #1764 where she earned her Academy of Friendship. Ramona was an excellent seamstress and used those talents at the Lodge making stage curtains, chair and table covers as well as clothing alterations for other members. She also used her sewing talents at Moosehaven with many special projects; alterations and even made her own wedding dress. Ramona and David came to Moosehaven on April 26, 2005. Dave passed away just one month shy of them being at Moosehaven for one year, on March 15, 2006. As time went by, Ramona and John Chartowich, who had lost his wife, Gladys of many years, became dear friends and fell in love and was married in the Moosehaven Chapel on December 29, 2007. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, sports, but most of all she enjoyed making people feel happy. She also appreciated all of Mother Nature’s beauty. She is survived by, her husband, John Chartowich, her five children, Mark Colicchio, (Karen) of Spanish Fort, AL, Karen Protz (Kelly) of Silt, CO, Teresa Canady (David) of Ellkton, MD and Mary Ann McGonigal (Charles) of Wilmington, DE and Gregory Colicchio (Claudine) of Wilmington, DE and 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
