Maria Doña Reed, 77, of Middleburg, FL, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010. She was born on May 13, 1933 in Malaga, Spain to parents, Rafael and Carmen Doña. Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Middleburg as well as the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Middleburg post. Mrs. Reed was also a member of the Navy Wifes Club of America Jax 86. Mrs. Reed loved sewing and needlepoint work, gardening and caring for animals. Her family remembers her as a person that loved to make people feel special. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Franklin Reed; son, James F. Reed (Kathy); daughter, Mary Turner (Kelly); brother, Rafael Doña; sisters, Adela, Africa, Carmen, Isa and Charo; grandchildren, Anne and David Reed, Matthew and Carmen Turner and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Fr. Andy Blaszkowski as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Family requests either donations be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or flowers are gratefully accepted.
