Ellis Donald Hughes

Ellis Donald Hughes, 68, of Orange Park, FL passed away Monday, September 20, 2010. He was born on February 5, 1942 in Collins, GA to parents Jasper Garland and Winnie Hughes. Ellis served his country honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Hughes has lived in the Orange Park area for most of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park. Ellis enjoyed bowling and going shrimping. Mr. Hughes was a loving father and Paw Paw who loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with them. Ellis will always be remembered as a devoted husband of 48 years. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lilla Hughes. Ellis will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his; sons, Donald Glen (Linda) and Thomas Porter Hughes; daughters, Lisa Michelle Hughes and Vivian Joyce (Mark) Samuels; brothers, Robert, David, Jessie, Glen, Patrick and Russell Hughes; sisters, Peggy Tate, Pam Drazich, Terry Vangiller and Valerie Hughes; grandchildren, Sherrie, Maria, Cierra, Jacqueline, Ellis, Mark, Jr., Jaron, Quante, Cy and Kimora; great grandchildren, Leilani, Maverick, Melissa, Memphis, Makaylin and Jemarr. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 26, 2010 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Pastor David Tarkington officiating. Military honors will be conferred at the service. The family will receive friends in the chapel beginning at 1:00 pm until service time.
