Arthur H. Clark

September 27, 1935 — October 26, 2010

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Arthur H. Clark, age 75, of New Smyrna Beach, FL who departed this life Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 will be held at the Smyrna Yacht Club on Saturday, November 6th, 2010 at 6:00pm. Arthur “Art” Clark was born and raised in Portland, Maine. As a young man, he served in the armed forces, attended the University of Maine, and worked as an electrical engineer for NASA until his retirement in 1995. He was a devoted husband, father, and doting grandfather who also considered his beloved pets, Molly and Rosebud, to be part of his family. His hobbies and lifelong enjoyments included tennis, sailing, crossword puzzles, and remote control airplanes. The Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina were his summer haven from the Florida heat; he looked forward to spending several months there each year feeding the hummingbirds and exploring the back roads of the countryside with his darling wife. His generous spirit and dry sense of humor will be sorely missed by his friends and family, who called him “Opie.” Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Evelyne A. Clark; daughter and son-in-law, Alaine and Albert “Buz” Allnutt of New Smyrna Beach, FL, son and daughter-in-law Russell and Kimberly Sherrett of Longwood, FL, son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Robin Clark of Maine; grandchildren Donald Christopher and Alina Sherrett, Erin and Charles Calabritto, Heather and Corey Lehman, and John Austin Loyd; great-grandchildren Chevi and Ciara Lehman, Layla and Caylin Sherrett. His surviving loved ones also include his sister Carol Clark of Maine as well as Timothy and Jennifer Smith of New Smyrna Beach, FL and their children, Timmy and Devan Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society. Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL (904) 284-4000.
