Cheryl Drake

Cheryl Drake died on Friday, October 29, 2010 at age 63. She displayed valiant strength and bravery during her last years but now lives with her angels. Cheryl was born in Pensacola, Florida to Emmett and Betty Drake. She was raised in Gardendale, Alabama where she graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School. At the age of 22 years she married Ronnie Carroll. Her favorite career, motherhood, began with the birth of their son. She held secretarial jobs with Alabama Industries for the Blind in Talladega, Alabama and with the U.S. Govt. at NAS Jax and Mayport. She will be fondly remembered for her heart, her smile and her ability to bring sunshine to those around her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Necia Carroll; grandchildren Nellie and Liam Carroll; brother Russell Jackson "Jack" Drake; niece Nicole Self-Drake Diaz; treasured cousins and dear friends; and her beloved dog Binkie. She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse Kenneth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm, on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Reverend Tim Hall will officiate.
