Tommie James Courson Sr.

Tommie J. Courson Sr., 75, was born on September 26, 1935 in Alma, Georgia and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. His parents were Otis & Fern Courson. He had two sisters, Mary Workman and Gail Belleview and one brother, Denny Courson. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard before going into sales where he was quite successful as a sales manager for both American Greetings and Gibson Greeting Cards. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years Lana McCabe Courson; daughters, Linda Nichols, Janet Vess; son, Tommie Courson Jr. and son in-laws Doug Nichols and Tommy Vess. In addition to being a loving husband and wonderful father, he was a grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren and one adorable great-grandchild. Jeffrey, wife Sheena; Steven and Lauren Nichols; Michelle and Courtney Vess; Tyler “TJ” Courson and Kevin Nichols will all miss their adoring Papa. He passionately loved his entire family and was so very proud of them all. He had a fantastic sense of humor with a passion for golf and Gator football. He liked to have a good time, loved to laugh, and was deeply loved by all and will forever be missed. Funeral services will be held at the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 4:00 pm with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
