Trubie Smith, 82, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006 in Jacksonville, FL. Born on October 19, 1924 to parents William Millard and Virginia Cocharn in Pikesville, KY, she had been a resident of the Green Cove Springs community for over 60 years, coming from Virginia. Mrs. Smith worked as a cook for Kentucky Fried Chicken for many years. Of the Baptist faith, she was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and she enjoyed fishing and yard work and loved her flowers. Trubie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 16 years, Felton Smith; four sons, Troy, Lawrence, “Big” Lewis, and Bobby Smith; and one daughter, Peggy Lou Smith. She is survived by her loving family which includes two sons, Lewis “Louis” Smith and James Smith, both of Green Cove Springs; seven daughters, Pattie Luce of Green Cove Springs, Patricia Rhodes (J.R.) of Fort White, FL, Pearl Smith of Brunswick, GA, Kathlyn Smith of GA, Shirley Pringles (Quincy) of Brunswick, GA, Ruby Smith of Starke, FL, and Vivian Armington (Charles, Sr.) of Green Cove Springs; her goddaughter, Mary Ball; forty four grandchildren; and many beloved great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Bryant and Reverend Mike Madaris officiating. Interment will follow in Dyal Cemetery in Starke, FL. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Jr., Samson, William, Benjamain, James Jr., David Allen, Rayon Jr., and Timmy Walrath.
