Joseph J. Oncidi

Joseph J. Oncidi, 84, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007. He was born on January 1, 1923 in Mahanoy City, PA to Giuseppe and Maria (Proetti) Oncidi. Mr. Oncidi was a mail handler for the United States Post Office in Harrisburg, PA, retiring in 1983. He served his country in World War II as a Combat Engineer in Germany where he was injured and earned a Purple Heart Medal. He was of the Catholic faith and loved to ride his bicycle and walk. Mr. Oncidi was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Golden) Oncidi; 5 brothers and a sister. Survivors include his 4 daughters, Mary Ellen Stetts Moorefield (Dan), June Wall (Danny), May Mikulski Myler (Patrick) and JoAnne Davis Horton (Charley); brothers, Alfred and Paul Oncidi; sisters, Elizabeth Larson and Rosa Smith; 7 grandchildren, Dina Marie, Nicole, James, Crystin, Edward, Karen and Jennifer and 10 great-grandchildren, Jim, Jenna, Andy, Shaun, Matthew, Jace, Jimmy, Daniel, Haden and Mara Isabella. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 Hwy. 17 South, Green Cove Springs with Fr. Donal Sullivan as Celebrant.
