Norvle A. Rodgers, Sr., 84, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007. He was born October 18, 1922 in Arkinda, Arkansas to parents Fletcher and Iva Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers served his country in the United States Army, retiring in 1967. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star as well as the Vietnam Service Medal Republic of Vietnam. Mr. Rodgers was a member of the VFW, the DAV and Harbor Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Geneva C. Rodgers; sons, N. Alex Rodgers (Sherrie) of Oxford, GA, Homer F. Rodgers (Mary Jane) of Baton Rouge, LA and Waymon Rodgers of Lexington, KY; daughters, Sharon McCrary of Shelbyville, KY, Brenda Gonsiork (Ken) of Bristol, WI and Theresa Davis (Jim) of Mt. Washington, KY; sister, Naomi Gronstedt of Pasadena, TX; brothers, Paul James Rodgers (Evelyn) of Palatka, FL and G.W. Rodgers (Barbara) of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Delza Rodgers of Cache, OK; step-children, Deborah Griffith of Golden, CO and Jerald D. Chase of Hot Springs, SD; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 12, 2007 at Harbor Baptist Church with Reverend Samuel H. Jewell officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
