Alma D. (Everett) Short, 81, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away April 29, 2019. She was born on August 3, 1937 to parents Jess and Ruby (Starling) Everett. Mrs. Short retired from the Clay County Sheriffs Office as their PR Secretary and was a member of Harbor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Woman’s Club, the Red Hat Society and the Gourmet Club. She served on the board of the Clay County Farm Bureau and was a volunteer for the Clay County Fair Association.
Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Welland “Bud” Short, Sr., her son, Welland “Buddy” Short, Jr., granddaughter, Valorie Short and brothers, Freeman and Raymond Everett. Survivors include her son, Jeff (Yesenia) Short and children, Nikole (Justin), Rena and Aleen; son, Marvin (Mary) Short, II and children, Marvin Robert Short, III and Woodrow Robert Short (Taylor); daughter-in-law, Kaye Short and daughter, Holly (Cody) McLendon; sisters, Louise (Joe) Cadell, Mildred (Doyle) Saunders, Doris (Allen) Wager and Becky Jolley and great-grandchildren, Angelina and Isabella, Landon and Logan, Caiden, Dillon, Mason and Colt.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Black Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Jewell and Pastor Bobby Baker officiating. The family will receive friends in the church from 3:00 pm until service time. Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
