Alton “Red” Spain went to eternal rest on April 16, 2019 with his loved ones at his side. He married the Love of his Life Martha (Becky) November 14, 1964. His greatest pride and joy in life was being a father to his sons, Michael and Tommy. Alton served as a Master Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy for 26 years, followed with a career as an Aircraft Electrician for 14 years. His retirement years were spent traveling with his wife and fellowshipping with his Church Family always sharing his quiet sense of humor.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Roy Sr. and Ruie, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Jr. (Gladys) and James Thomas ”J.T.” (Maurice). He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Martha Rebecca “Becky”, two sons Michael (Tammy) and Roy Thomas “Tommy” (Shannon), grandson Grady, a brother Harold Dean (Jackie) nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his wife’s loving family with a sister-in-law Delores Coon Chipman (Ronald), three brothers-in-law Eugene (Joyce) Coon, Jack (Brenda) Coon, Jerry Coon and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Monday, April 22, 2019 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Burial will be promptly at 1:00pm on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Alzheimer’s research.
