Mr. Alvin Bentley of Green Cove Springs passed away April 4, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born April 8, 1953, to Herbert and Marie Bentley also of Green Cove Springs. Alvin was a lifelong resident of Clay County working over 30 years as a Wastewater Management Operator. After his retirement, Alvin worked with his wife at Cattail Creek restaurant and The Top of The Reef as he enjoyed cooking.
Through the years, Alvin has had many hobbies, including boating, fishing, water skiing, camping and bonfires, gardening, woodwork, engine repair, bowling and golf. His two favorites being cooking and playing golf. Alvin was once a member of the Green Cove Springs Elks Lodge, serving as Exalted Ruler. And with VFW post 1988 involved in the men’s auxiliary club. After the passing of his wife of 44 years, Alvin moved to Palatka with his youngest daughter.
Alvin is preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Nancy, brother Lee Bentley, sister Lisa Bentley, and niece Jessica Kendall.
Alvin is survived by his two daughters, Kathy Sutton (Ray) and Shannon Moore (Shawn), Brother Howard Bentley, sister Alma Kendall, and sister-in-law Bonnie Schneider
6 grandsons, Tim Sutton (Hillary), Justin Sutton (Alli), Matthew Sutton (Anna), Jacob Sutton (Destiny), Zachary Moore (Carie), and Dylan Moore (Hannah).
12 Great Grandchildren and his 9-year-old little dog Re-Run.
A private day of remembrance for close family and friends will be at a later date.
