Ann "Gram" Gambrell

Ann "Gram" Gambrell, a beloved member of the Green Cove Springs community, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at the age of 97. She was born on May 4, 1926, to Guy and Ruby Wallace in Hapeville, GA. She graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She dedicated many years of her life in service to her community through her work at the Sheriff's Department in Clay County, Florida. Her dedication and commitment to the well-being of her neighbors will be remembered by all who knew her. 

Ann was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving family member. She is preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Floyd; husband, Sargent Richard “Dick” Watkins; her second husband, Robert “Bob” Gambrell; and daughter, Jean Watkins. She is survived by her cherished loved ones, including her daughter, Betty Hancock (husband Tommy); grandsons, Jeff Everett (wife Jennifer, stepdaughters Isabella and Kaela); Jason Clark (wife Brandy); Brian Clark (wife Cierra); and her adored great grandchildren, Easton Clark, Kaine Clark, and Knox Clark. Her family meant the world to her, and her legacy lives on through them. 

Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a passionate horseback rider and found solace in the tranquility of her small farm in Green Cove Springs. Her connection to the land and the animals she cared for brought her immense happiness.

Community involvement was also close to Ann's heart. She was an active member of the Garden Club and the Red Hat Club, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the vibrant spirit of the community.

Ann "Gram" Gambrell will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to others, and her love for the countryside. Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire us all.

A funeral service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:00 am, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Pastor Chad Weeks presiding.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Please join us in remembering and honoring the life of Ann "Gram" Gambrell, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her kindness and love.
