Anna Diodato Hubel, 84, of Orange Park, Florida, beloved wife, mother and Nonna, passed away on February 18, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Salvatore and Maria Diodato on March 22, 1938, in Naples, Italy, the youngest of 8 siblings. She met and married her loving husband, LCDR Edward H. Hubel, in 1958 in Naples, Italy. Throughout his career in the US Navy, they spent many tours of duty worldwide, including Iceland, Italy, Sicily, and various stations throughout the US.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward H. Hubel, her three children: Frances (Charles) Dodge of Jacksonville Beach, Edward T. (Kristen) Hubel of Fernandina Beach, and Kimberly (Vincent) Galiano of Jacksonville. Five grandchildren: Alexander Dodge, Samantha Arce, Christopher Dodge, Max Hubel, and Jordan Galiano, along with four great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy!
She donated thousands of hours volunteering for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, knitting baby sweaters and blankets. Her hobbies included needle point, crocheting and playing bridge with her dear friends. Nonna’s love of cooking and keeping her Italian traditions during holidays and Sunday dinners will be greatly missed by us all.
The funeral service will be held on March 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. https://support.nmcrs.org/a/homepage
