Beatrice Jean Montoro, also known affectionately as “Bea” “Mee-Maw” and “Grams” passed away peacefully on June 18th 2020 in Fernandina Beach Fl.
Bea was born in Harlem, New York, June 28, 1932. She went to Washington Irving High School in Manhattan NY where soon after she met and married Raymond Montoro. Bea was feisty and smart but could not have known at the time that she would go on to start a great big family that has continued to and will grow for generations.
She went on to spend nearly 60 years in New York, where she became a mother of three, a grandmother to a dozen, while working over 20 years at Toys R Us! That was a huge bonus for the grandkids!
She then relocated to Florida with her husband Ray to retire.... it just wasn’t the same without them so soon enough the whole family followed!
Throughout her life Bea was devoted to her family, loved to cook, and was always one to give you her opinion whenever she felt it was needed!
Her story continues in the memories and the legacy she helped create will thrive through her surviving family including her sister Jane Hartman, her three children, Caroline Lauer-Grabowski (Joseph), Andrew Montoro (Candi), Raymond Montoro (Maureen); her 12 grandchildren, Jacob Lauer (Bryanna), Zakariah Lauer (Loni), Ethan Lauer (Ali), Jamie Key (Lindsey), Jessie Montoro, Joshua Montoro (Bianca), Jonathan Montoro (Jerrica), Bridget Dart (Bradley), Kathleen Waters (Brent), Jill Montoro, Grace Laughinghouse (David), Raymond Montoro, and 17 great-grandchildren (yes, 17!), Isabella, Bryn, Kylie, Judah, Caroline, Jensen, Ariellah, Elijah, Madison, Wyatt, Ruby, Violet, Noah, Caleb, Lucas, Jonathan, Colin, MauraKate, Julianna, Tucker, Elliot, and Adelaide. She even had a great-great-grandchild, Aubrey!
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jack and Paul, loving husband, Raymond “Sharky” Montoro and her son-in-law Patrick Lauer.
There are no words that can be written or spoken that can describe how much she was loved and will be missed.
