Bette Kay (Eccleston) Baxter 82, of Saint Augustine, FL passed away on March 12th, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 25, 1942 in Westerly, Rhode Island, to the late Sophie Weitzel Champion and Elwood Everett Eccleston.
Bette and her husband Paul came to the area in 2010 from Topsham, Maine and was of the Episcopalian faith. Bette proudly supported her husband’s service in the United States Navy. Bette was a proud loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed sewing, reading, shopping (QVC and Lilly Pulitzer) and watching the Boston Red Sox.
Bette was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Paul Douglas Baxter, Sr. and sisters Lois (Eccleston) Crandall, Barbara (Eccleston) Richards. She is survived by sisters: Eleanor (Eccleston) Scott and Sharon (Eccleston) Bayha, and her seven children: Laura Ann (Baxter) Gamrat of Clearwater, Florida, Paul Douglas Baxter, Jr, (Julie) of Lisbon Falls, Maine, Michael Everett Baxter (Stacy) of Scotland, Maryland, Mark Thomas Baxter (Emily) of Augusta, Maine, Rachele Lee Baxter Hood (Scott) of Palm Coast, Florida, Rebecca Lyn (Baxter) Bradberry (Daniel) of St Augustine, Florida, Nathan Aaron Eccleston Baxter (Lauren) of Topsham, Maine; 18 Grandchildren: Nicholas, Jessica, Paul, Alyssa, Ryan, Brady, Evahlyn, Ashley, Aaron, Andrew, Harmony, Jessalyn, Chrystlyn, Kayla, Emma, Sadie, Marin, Boden, 3 Great-Grandchildren Riley, Brooke, and Hendericks.
Inurnment for both Paul and Bette will be held at 2:00pm on May 2, 2025, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
