Betty Ruth Larimer of Penney Farms, Florida passed away on February 2, 2022, 18 days before turning 91.
She was born on February 20, 1931 to Estella Pearl Ames age 37 and Brady Haskell Larimer age 46 in Miami Beach FL.
Some of her education included:
Graduated from Miami High School in 1949.
Graduated from Jackson Memorial School of Nursing on
June 4th 1952
University of Miami BS
University of Pittsburg, Pa. Masters of Nursing Education
Taught at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana
Betty was in Missionary service in Eku and Laos Nigeria teaching nursing and midwifery from June 1972-June 1995.
After living in Ky for a while she eventually moved to Penney Farms Retirement Community in November 1999.
Having been a Southern Baptist most of her life, Betty became a member of First Baptist of Middleburg FL and also Penney Memorial Church.
Betty loved playing games with friends, sewing, knitting and doing stained glass, playing the recorder and reading. She loved her pet kitties too!
Having a strong sense of service, Betty participated in many volunteer activities. One that she was most proud of included working as a Guardian Ad Litem for the State of Florida. For six years Betty represented many children in court, and followed 10 children through the adoption process.
Betty was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Charles and John Larimer, sister Patricia Yeazel, nephew John Yeazel and niece Sherry Parent Yeazel.
Betty is survived by nieces Elaine and Patricia “Trish” Larimer.
There will be an open Memorial Graveside Service on March 10, 2022 at 10:00am at Garden of Hope at Penney Farms FL., with pastors Todd and Hull presiding. The service will be shown on the Penney Community channel later in the day for those unable to attend.
