Billy Jones, Sr.

Billy Jones, Sr., 77, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on May 14, 2018.  He was born on April 3, 1941 in Pierce County, GA to the late Donald T. and Floria (Carroll) Jones.  Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Florida and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  He loved fishing, camping and playing golf.  For many years in his younger days, Mr. Jones was a Boy Scout.  He enjoyed watching baseball, basketball and tennis. 

Mr. Jones is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Leila M. Jones; son, Billy Jones, Jr. (Amy); daughters, Irene Cowart (Jack) and Rhonda Maddox (Randy); brother, Jack Jones (Cathy); sisters, Ruth Jones Chance and Marie Fletcher; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Mr. Jones’ grandson, Edward Maddox and his wife Kimmi, for stepping up and being the rock and strength for Papa in his time of need.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Billy Jones, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Penney Farms Cemetery.
