Bonnadell "Boni" Colleen McIntyre

March 25, 1946 — May 11, 2021

Bonnadell “Boni” Colleen McIntyre (nee Arfsten) passed away May 11, 2021 at age 75 from complications of colon cancer. She was born on March 25, 1946 to Delbert Arfsten and Lillian Arfsten (nee Langley) in Watertown, South Dakota. Growing up in Westbrook, Minnesota she helped out on her family’s farm with her siblings. Boni married her husband Hal McIntyre on February 5, 1966 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Graduating from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing,  Boni worked as a nurse for many years in a variety of capacities – from an ER nurse to Director of Nursing to a family practitioner nurse. Helping people and saving lives was her passion, and when she became too ill to continue nursing, she opened up her home as a day care facility and made it a point to take care of special-needs children. Boni loved to crochet baby blankets for her friends, family, and co-workers. She loved to sit and chat and write letters. Watching shows that made her smile was a priority for her, as she is oft recalled saying “smile!” especially to family on rainy days. She never refused someone in need, and is remembered by her family as a generous soul. Boni was a devout Lutheran, and lived her life walking the path she felt God called her to until the day he called her home. Boni is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Hal. She is survived by her sister Evonne Petersen, brother Glen Arfsten, daughters Beth Peters and Misty (Tim) Graham, her granddaughter Megan Peters, and nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her husband once more, and may they rest in peace.
