Brenda Bowen Hamilton

Brenda Bowen Hamilton died at age 85 on June 13, 2018 at Penney Retirement Community in Florida.  Mrs. Hamilton was the daughter of the late Reverend Kenneth Blount Bowen and Onnolee  Avery Bowen of Lexington, Kentucky.  Mrs. Hamilton and her husband, Leslie Craig Hamilton moved to Penney Retirement Community in 2008.

Mrs. Hamilton was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended grade school in Villa Hills, Kentucky, Junior High in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois.  She attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky where she met and married her husband of 64 years in January of 1954.

Mrs. Hamilton served as an active member of every church that she joined as the Hamilton Family moved from Lexington, Kentucky to Chagrin Falls, Ohio to Florence, Kentucky to Riverside, Illinois to the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania and finally to Penney Farms, Florida.

Until her children had graduated from high school, Mrs. Hamilton devoted herself primarily to family and church. When her youngest graduated from high school Mrs. Hamilton became a full-time buyer for the gift department at Allen Hardware.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband of 64 years and her three children,  Amy Hamilton of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Kenneth Craig Hamilton (Tim Lewis) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Scott Craig Hamilton of Orlando, Florida.

Gifts may be made in Mrs. Hamilton’s memory to the Resident’s Fund of Penney Retirement Community or to the First Presbyterian Church, Green Cove Springs.
