ROBERTSON, Bruce Adams “Jack”, 75, passed away at home on February 23, 2020 after a long illness. Jack was born on October 16, 1944 and raised in Green Cove Springs, Florida by his parents, Slater B. and Mary L. (Tippins) Robertson. He graduated from Clay High School in 1962 and later from St. Johns River College with an A.S. in Criminology. Jack was an Army veteran, serving in both the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. A devoted public servant, Jack served 33 years in law enforcement. His career included positions with the Green Cove Springs Police Department (Patrolman to Sergeant), Camp Blanding Military Police (Chief of Police), and finally retiring in 2004 as a Lieutenant/Watch Commander with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Jack was a member of Shriners International, Cabul Masonic Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police and Hickory Grove Baptist Church. An avid animal lover, Jack never met a stray animal he didn’t befriend.
Mourning his passing are his wife of 52 years, Margie; daughter, Beth; brother, Jimmy and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Predeceasing him are his parents; brother, Slater Phillip Robertson “Sonny Boy” and sister, Bonnie Robertson Drake.
The family thanks David and Meredyth Vander Vest, Tim and Jackie Collins, Jimmy Robertson, Dr. George Platt, Vitas Hospice, and other health care professionals that cared for Jack during his illness.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Russell Franklin and Joe Barrie officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. Following the graveside service, all are welcome to Hickory Grove Baptist Church for food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Jack’s name.
