C.A. (Al) Marshall

August 25, 1932 — January 22, 2019

C.A. (Al) Marshall passed peacefully in his sleep on January 22 at Haven Hospice.  He was born August 25, 1932 in Bloomington, Illinois to parents Clarence and Faye Marshall.  Following high school, he enrolled at the University of Illinois in Champaign.  Al had dreamed of being a pilot in the Air Force, but was turned down because he was color-blind.  He spent two years in the US Army and finished his degree at Illinois Wesleyan.  He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

He married Caryl Fisher a week after his graduation and the two left for Massachusetts as he started his career with General Electric.  He retired from GE after 32 years of distinguished service, his last 9 at GE Medical Systems in Milwaukee.  He was a member of Orange Park United Methodist Church.

Everyone who knew Al recognized his passion for golf and the University of Louisville basketball Cardinals.  The couple moved to Green Cove Springs (Magnolia Point) nearly 30 years ago looking for warm weather and golf courses.  He had 6 holes in one-one doubtful as it landed on a cup full of ice.

Al is survived by his wife of 62 years Caryl, their children Diane Lentz (Tim), Jon Marshall, and Julie Tisera (John); grandchildren, Mark, Sherell, Danielle, Georgie and Kelly Jo; great-grandchildren, Bella, Shawn and Xavier.  He was predeceased by his sister Eileen Perry and his buddies Max, Marsi and Buford T. Pusser.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
