Captain Glen L. Goddard, age 88, from Fleming Island, FL passed away Monday, March 6, 2023.
Glen was born November 10, 1934, in Vernal, Utah to the late Francis Burl Goddard and the late Sarah Richardson O’Brien.
Glen was a member of Hibernia Baptist Church, Fleming Island, FL. He was a Morocco Shriner and a founding supporter and season ticket holder for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Glen enlisted in the US Navy in August 1954. With hard work and determination, Glen became an LDO in 1965 making him a US Navy “Mustang” He spent over 36 years proudly serving his country retiring as a Captain in October 1990. He received numerous medals and decorations for his patriotic service.
He enjoyed his family, camping, fishing, and travelling all his life. He was an honorable man and a true and dependable friend. He always had a twinkle in his eye and loved to laugh. We will miss his humor.
Glen was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Carol A. Goddard.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of almost 13 yrs., Linda R. Goddard, his children David Goddard and Libby Spurgeon (Richard), his stepchildren Tonya Godwin (Wes) and Allen Kent (Wanda). Glen also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Shannon Shaun, Lauren, Allison, Kelli, Cassidy, and Jacob and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10:30am to 11:00am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Hibernia Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Reverend Archie Jackson officiating and a reception at the church will begin at 12:00pm. The burial with full military honors will follow at Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
