In Loving Memory of

Carmelita Flores Domingo

1943 - 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carmelita Flores Domingo, age 79, surrounded by her immediate family, on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Carmelita (affectionately called Lita by family) was born in the Philippines on September 26, 1943, to parents Arnulfo M. Flores Sr. and Matilde Cruz-Flores. Carmelita was the second oldest sibling, raised alongside Erlinda, Angelica, Arnulfo Jr, Ruben, and Nolan.

Carmelita immigrated to the United States in 1967 and settled in Chicago. In 1969, Carmelita and Rolando got married and settled in Schaumburg, a Chicago suburb. Their union produced a daughter, Diana. When they retired, the family moved to Saint Augustine, Florida.

Carmelita lived her life dedicated to the Catholic faith and spent the last years of her life as a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Two of her greatest passions were gardening and cooking. She kept her house plants and flowers immaculate. She didn’t skimp on ingredients of meals she prepared. During family vacations, she brought everything but the kitchen sink to lavish her loved ones with her culinary specialties. Aside from attending mass daily, she enjoyed playing the piano and golf. Despite keeping a busy routine and schedule fulfilling her passions, she unbelievably found time to relax watching sports events on TV while ironing.

Carmelita exuded an exceptionally warm and affectionate energy to anyone in her life and cared deeply for those closest to her. Carmelita’s legacy carries on in her husband of 54 years, Rolando; her daughter, Diana; and grandchildren, Taylor and Bryson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Thursday, June 15, 2023 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and funeral services will begin at 4:00pm with Fr. Martin Ibeh as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, she and her family request your generous, charitable donation to:
