Chad Allen Williams

March 20, 1973 — December 3, 2020

Chad Allen Williams, 47, of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Orange Park, Florida.  He was born on March 20, 1973 in Lake City, Florida, and after graduating high school attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Chad started his 28-year dedication with the Clay County Board of County Commissioners in the Public Works Department and held a variety of positions in multiple departments throughout these years, the last of which was the position of Zoning Chief in the Planning & Zoning Division.  His commitment to and unparalleled knowledge of Clay County helped shape its growth and development.  He enjoyed sports but had a love for baseball that started with little league at an early age and continued through high school and his early adult life.  His dedication to football started at the age of 3, as a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and transitioned to an avid college football fan following the one true team…Roll Tide!  Chad’s allegiance to The University of Alabama was in a class of its own and known by all.  Chad’s quick wit and sense of humor were constants in his life to all who knew him and will forever be remembered.  He had a love for cooking and entertaining and was well known for a variety of dishes, but especially crab cakes, green beans and mac ‘n’ cheese, which will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his dad William “Bill” Knowles, his grandmother Esther Williams, his great uncle and aunt Reid “Pop” and Reba “Granny” Wager, whom he considered grandparents, and grandparents Buck “Papa” and Frances B. “Granny” Knowles.  Chad is survived by his wife of 15 years, L. Cheree Williams of Green Cove Springs, mother Frances M. Knowles of Green Cove Springs, sisters Shana Jundt (Mike) of Green Cove Springs and Luetta Graham (Charley) of Neptune Beach, a godson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 12,  in the Broadus-Raines Chapel located at 501 Spring Street, Green Cove Springs, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Chad Williams to Haven Hospice located at 745 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida or Community Hospice located at 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida.
