Charles E. Todd

Charles Edward Todd, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on August 4, 1940 to Edwin Charles Todd and Jessie Mae Johns Todd in Jacksonville, Florida.

Charles graduated from Clay High School where he was known for his skills on the football field.

Charles was a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs and a member of Sharon Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and loved to listen to gospel music. He loved to fish and hunt, but most of all, he loved to golf with his best friends.

Charles was a well-known business owner for many years; owned the IGA Grocery Store, Mid-Florida Stucco and the Courthouse Café. He was also an insurance agent with Mutual of Omaha and Liberty National.

Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jean Jones Todd and their three beautiful children, Teresa Green (Lloyd), Michael Todd (Michelle), Carole Woods (Woody).

Charles was proud to be called “Papa” by his 6 grandchildren: Erica Green, Jennifer Kelso, Jessie Pacetti, Paige Ross, Cole Woods, and Courtney Todd; and his 9 great-grandchildren: Angelina Ross, Luke Lancaster, Alyssa Lancaster, Christopher Kelso, Tripp Pacetti, Easton Kelso, Riley Ross, Reid Pacetti, and Saylor Woods.

Charles is predeceased by both of his parents, his only brother, Robert Todd and his first-born granddaughter, Erica Green.

Charles will be sorely missed by many, but the memories he’s created with everyone he came in contact with, will last forever.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Thomas Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
