Christopher Mark Hickson

Christopher Mark Hickson 59, of Fleming Island, FL passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10^th, 2019, from an apparent heart attack. Mark was born on October 7^th, 1960 in the city of Homestead, FL. He graduated from South Dade High School and continued his education at the University of South Florida where he graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree. After college, Mark went on to work at Florida Power Light, and concluded his career at Duke Energy.

While at South Dade, Mark met his wife Cyndee Sinclair, a love-filled marriage that would endure for over 34 happy years. An inseparable couple, Mark and Cyndee enjoyed and overcame all life had to offer, never one without the other. With a history of sports behind him, Mark loved all things outdoors and community centered, which naturally led him to pursue road biking. After many rides, Mark and Cyndee were introduced to Team Left Hand, where they quickly became active, supporting, and cherished members of the team.

When Mark wasn’t biking, he would be working his list of home projects he seemed to always have queued up. Mark took immense pride in his handy work, never overlooking any detail, but his attention to quality was only a reflection of Mark’s attitude in life:  to take nothing for granted; to appreciate what you have; and to carry passion with everything you do.

Mark will be most remembered for being an exemplary father and husband, a community cornerstone, and having impeccable character. He led an altruistic life; thoughtful in his decisions, and compassionate in his actions. You can always catch a glimpse of Mark’s lively spirit in his albums of memories, sporting either a goofy pose or silly expression or a combination of both.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents Joyce and Blair Hickson.

A memorial service will be held at Hibernia Baptist Church on Friday, December 13^th at 5:00 pm with Pastor Scott Yirka leading.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of North Florida Chapter, the host of one of the largest, annual charity rides in North America—the MS150—that Mark, Cyndee, and their teammates participate in.
