Gene passed away January 13, 2020 in the Moosehaven Health Care Center at the age of 78.
He was born to Brooks and Louise Moody on June 18, 1941 in San Bernardion, California and raised in Parker, Arizona. Gene was the third eldest of nine children. At age 13 the family moved back to San Fernando Valley, California.
Gene attended Polytechnic High School and was the only high school graduate in his family. It was during his senior year of high school that he met the love of his life, Sue, at a teen dance at San Fernando Moose Lodge.
Gene married Karen Sue Anderson on June 21, 1961. They were married for 58 years. They have a daughter Le Ann and a son, Daniel.
At 18, he began his long vending mechanic career at Pepsi Cola till he retired at age 64. He was a lifelong, loyal, hardworking union man.
Gene became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on September 25, 1964 when he joined San Fernando Valley, California Lodge #1522 at age 22. With the guidance of his father in-law, he rose through the ranks and became the youngest governor of San Fernando Lodge. He was a past governor on May 1, 1968 and received his Fellowship degree on August 25, 1970. He was a life member of Moose Legion #163 Angeles, California. He served on the ritual team.
He came to Moosehaven with his wife Karen Sue on July 16, 2012 where he resided for 7 years and 5 months. At Moosehaven Gene served two terms as governor of Opportunity Lodge, which he enjoyed immensely.
Gene was a loyal, caring and optimistic man till his last breath.
He is preceded in life by his parents, brothers Richard, Ray, Wayne, Steven and his grandson Paul Aaron.
Memorial Services held Friday, January 17, 2020 in the Moosehaven Chapel at 2:00 PM. Services conducted by Rev. Helen Taylor and Officers of Opportunity Lodge.
Gene is survived by his wife Karen Sue Moody of Moosehaven, Orange Park Florida, a daughter Le Ann (Tim) Hammons of Santa Clarita, CA and a son Daniel (Andrea) Moody of Barstow, CA. and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
