Commander James Robert Stubbs, Jr., USN, Ret., age 94, of Middleburg, FL passed away January 31, 2019. He was born on August 8, 1924 in Birmingham, AL to parents James and Lucille (Springfield) Stubbs, Sr. He retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service and was a World War II Veteran. He worked as a commercial airline pilot and was a member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg where he was involved in the Agape House. In his free time he enjoyed boating and golf.
He will be remembered for his interest in people and loved to share with everyone. The quality of order was important to him and he was grateful that he was loved by so many.
Commander Stubbs was married to his first wife of 21 years, Julia Milner Stubbs Dewey, with whom he had 4 children. Following his divorce from his first wife he married his second wife of 39 years, Linda Cordell Stubbs who preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Jenna Stubbs Zukmann, Steven Milner Stubbs, Janna Stubbs Ouf and Julianne Stubbs Marmolejo; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 1 special family boy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Middleburg with Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Full military honors will be given at the church service.
