Chapter #966

Cordelia “Joyce” Bell

December 19, 1936 – February 9, 2025

Joyce passed away February 9, 2025, in the Moosehaven Health Care Center at the age of 88. She was born to Howard and Sadie Sink on December 19, 1936, in Roanoke, Virginia.  Joyce had two sons, David and Daniel who preceded her in death and two daughters, Debra and Denise.

Joyce worked hard all of her life. She retired from GE as a supervisor on the TV Assembly line. She also worked as a Health and Beauty Aids Associate for Food Lion Grocery store and owned her own craft shop before coming to Moosehaven.

Joyce joined Portsmouth VA Chapter 966 on January 31, 1991. She received her Academy of Friendship degree on January 24, 1993, College Degree on June 28, 1998, and Star Recorder degree on June 17, 2005. She was also a member of the 25 Club. Her work ethics followed her in her Moose career!

Joyce came to Moosehaven on June 7, 2011. In 2016, Joyce did what she never thought she would do again – get married. She and Moosehaven resident, Don Bell hit it off and the two fell in love and got married on August 26, 2016, in the Moosehaven Chapel.

She loved Bingo! She and Don loved to dance until her health would not allow. She loved her many friends, the Moose Fraternity, and her family most of all. She loved God and made going to church a priority whether she felt like it or not.

Joyce is survived by her husband Donald Bell of Orange Park, Florida, Daughters, Denise Saucier and her husband Glenn of Virginia Beach, VA and Debra Vickery of Virginia Beach, VA.

Grandchildren Ashley Forsythe of Virginia Beach, David Dalton and Jamie Dalton, North Carolina, Denise Repp, Ohio, Sara Gyfteas, Idaho, Aron Vickery, Alaska and Michael Vickery, Switzerland and 10 Great Grandchildren.
