Curt Shepherd, 69, of Fleming Island, Florida passed away on April 1,2025 from cancer. He was born to Don and Janice Elaine Shepherd on April 18,1955 in Las Vegas, NV. He was married to Diana Lynn Shepherd for an amazing and adventurous 32 years. He graduated in 2008 from the University of New Mexico with a doctorate in Economics, emphasis in environmental and natural resources. He taught at St. Johns River State College for the last 14 years; which he took much joy and pride in. He also loved to sing and had been in various community theater productions as well as participating with the Big Orange singers. Baseball was another of his loves and he umpired high school baseball through the River City Umpires Association. Flying was another passion of his as he had his single engine pilots license and did a lot of flight seeing around Alaska. Travel was in his blood, and got to spend time in Asia, Europe, South America, Canada and Mexico.
Curt is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Diana, loving stepsons James Settle and Christopher Settle, daughter Allison Shepherd, grandchildren Amaretta Joy, Reven and James Settle, as well as his sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Blake Berry, nephew Ryan Berry and niece Breanne Berry.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and his wicked sense of humor, along with his many students who suffered through his jokes! Curt Shepherd was a good man who felt it appropriate to leave us all on April Fool’s Day, very Curt-like!
We will have a casual celebration of life June 1st from 2-4, please call (904)806-8091 for directions. This will be a celebration where we can share Curt stories and fond memories. Attire is casual dress and food will be served, all are welcomed.
