Daniel L. White, Sr.

Daniel L. White, Sr., 77, of Fleming Island, FL passed away October 26, 2018. He was born on September 11, 1941 in Metter, GA to parents Daniel Cooper White and Grace Lucille (Geddie) White. He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife of 46 years, Barbara White. He is survived by his wife, Irene Villanueva; son, Daniel L. White, Jr (Colleen); daughters, Tammy White, Kimberly David, Christine Stanton (David) and Nicole Estridge (Ashton); step-daughters, Bea Villanueva and Blessie Villanueva; Step-son, Iriz Villanueva; brothers, Fred H. White (Linda) and James T. White (Linda); sister, Carolyn Tibbetts (Donald); fifteen grandchildren.

Dan worked in the construction industry all his life. Early on he worked for his Dad who built homes in Florida. He began work in heavy highway construction as a surveyor and with experience and training worked his way up becoming a Vice President of D.A. Collins Construction Company in Mechanicville, N.Y. Dan left D.A. Collins and went to work for Balfour Beatty Construction, a large international construction company. He managed sophisticated multi-million-dollar highway construction projects. He was the project manager of the I-95 bridge project over the St. John’s River………the Fuller Warren Bridge which was completed in 2002. He finished his career working for AMEC, another international construction company working as project manager on the I-95/I-295 /SR 9A south interchange. While on these projects several of his family worked with him in various capabilities. His son Daniel Jr. is continuing in his father’s footsteps working in heavy highway construction on projects in the Jacksonville area.

The family will receive friends at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
