James Redd Carter, 86, passed away in Orange Park, FL on Friday, August 17, 2018. James was born to the late James and Kathryn Carter in Hastings, FL on November 11, 1931. He graduated from Palatka High School. James served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He then went on to work and retire at St. Regis Paper Company.
James was a member of Harbor Baptist Church; he was also a proud member of The Shriners. He was a very proud Florida Gator, loved wood working, golfing and fishing. James will be remembered as being a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as his woodworking projects and serving his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Claire and Hazel Kemp; his first wife, Anne Oglesby Carter; sister, Carolyn Jean Carter; and three step-children, Frank, Sonya and Kenneth.
James is survived by his wife, Delcie and her son John Dishman; sister, Susan Marie Poston; son, David Carter; grandson, Patrick Carter; grandson, Daniel Carter and his wife Holly and their sons Reed and Rhett; grandson, Shaun Dishman and family; granddaughter, Ashley Trail and family; grandsons, Jeremy and Alex Potter and families; granddaughter, Sara Dishman and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Harbor Baptist Church, 1120 Clay Street Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003, with Pastor Samuel Jewell officiating.
