David "Dave" Thomas Mitchell

David “Dave” Thomas Mitchell, 32, passed away on June 2, 2017.  Born June 21, 1984, Dave was a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs, Florida.  Dave swam competitively and was a member of the Bolles swim team.  He played football at Clay High School, where he graduated in 2002.  He played football and tennis at West Virginia State University graduating in 2006.  He returned to Green Cove Springs where he was employed as an insurance adjuster.  A true “Florida” boy, Dave loved the water and was an accomplished scuba diver and spear fisherman. Dave was a loving and caring son and brother with a big heart.  His family and friends will miss his beautiful smile and sense of humor. Dave is survived by his father “Coach” David Mitchell and mother, Nancy Fretwell Mitchell; sister, Erin Mitchell Schmidt; nephew, Charlie Schmidt; all of Green Cove Springs and many dearly loved extended family members. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 3:00pm at Christ’s Church, 5900 US-17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 with William Bethea officiating.
