David Lamar Maroney (65) of Jacksonville, Florida entered the gates of heaven on September 29, 2021. David was born the eldest son of Boyd and Shirley Maroney on October 7, 1955 in Pensacola, Florida. After graduating High School, David joined the US Army where he spent a number of years stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge David returned to Florida and made his living as a carpenter working primarily for his dear friend Ricky Hypes at R&T Trim as he shared his life with his love, Dena Roth.
David was known for his loyalty, his kindness and his laughter. He was a skilled carpenter and in his spare time loved gardening, and sharing the abundance of his crops. He also enjoyed reading the bible and sharing his faith. He will be remembered most for his generous and loving spirit as it was not unusual for David to give to others out of his own need. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Shirley Maroney, his Brother Clayton Maroney and the love of his life, Dena Roth.
David is survived by his sister, Teresa Dixon (Gary); Dena’s children, Leslie Roth and Debra Lopez, who were like his own; and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was their favorite uncle.
Visitation will be held at Biltmore Baptist Church, 3525 Norman E. Thagard Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32254 beginning at 10 to 11am with Pastor Jim Clendenen officiating a Memorial service beginning at 11am.
In Lieu of flowers, it would please David if donations would be made to support the ministries of Biltmore Baptist Church.
