Delbert (Del) Glendale White

May 2, 1941 — April 11, 2019

Delbert Glendale White passed away at home on April 11, 2019. His devoted wife, Judy, was by his side. Del, born in Roswell, New Mexico in 1941, was the son of Bill and Ruby Lee. He is survived by his wife, Judy, of 50 years; his sons, Keith and wife Tracy, Dean and wife Tiffany, grandchildren Mason, Haley and Brooke, step­-grandchildren Mason  and Sidney, Goddaughter Kimberly Connly, Godsons, Michael Langlais, Kyle Brown and Logan Brown, his brother, Gene Cotton and wife Nell of Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased siblings are Dean White, Ray Cotton and Luann Campbell.

 

Del retired from the US Naval Air Forces VP Squadrons after serving 26 years. Some of his fondest experiences were flying in the P3 aircraft including making "Good Will" tours and working at the Research and Development Center in PA. After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Del was employed by Logistics Services International of Jacksonville and also worked in Chile with a U.S. Government contractor for several years. He was a member of the Elks Organization, Masons and Shriners and served as the Commander of the Shriners Clay Kats in the 70s. In his retirement Del enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Del was a dedicated family man. He loved coaching his sons and nephews in youth baseball, soccer and basketball teams. He is remembered for his love and pride in his family and his passion for traveling with family and friends. He enjoyed following most sports but especially basketball. In his high school years, living in Texas, his basketball talents placed him into the High School Texas State "All Star" Championship.

 

Services arranged by Broadus-Raines Funeral Home (www.broadusraines.com) will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or Salvation Army of Clay County, Florida.
