Denny Maxwell Bucy, Sr.

Denny Maxwell Bucy, Sr., 79, of Fleming Island, Florida went home to be with our Lord on August 21, 2021.

He was born to Maxwell and Rosezella Bucy on January 7, 1942 in Poplar Bluff, MO.

After attending Poplar Bluff High School, Denny proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964. He earned an Associates of Art degree from FCCJ.  After leaving the Navy, he began his career as a draftsman for McDonnell Douglas and held many jobs in his lifetime.  He retired as a mechanical designer from Florida Wire and Cable, Jacksonville, Florida in 1999.

He married his high school sweetheart, Calline Bucy, in 1960.  They celebrated their 60^th wedding anniversary in 2020.

Denny was an active and long standing member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park where he served as a Deacon.

Denny enjoyed many activities including spending time with his family and friends and serving in his church.  He was an avid boater and enjoyed going bird hunting with his son and grandson. His favorite professional sports team was the St. Louis Cardinals and he enjoyed watching them play. 

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell and Rosezella Bucy; sisters, Linda Faye Bucy (in infancy) and Billie Jo Green; and brother, Jerry Lynn Bucy.

Denny is survived by his wife, Calline Bucy; daughter, Christine (Jeff) Reese; son, Denny Bucy, Jr. (Jami); four grandchildren, Amanda (Nate) Rakoczy, Elizabeth Reese, Reid Bucy and Riley Bucy; two great-grandchildren, Reese Rakoczy and Raegan Rakoczy; brother, Bobby (Audrey) Bucy; aunt, Joyce Rice; and many nephews and cousins. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Orange Park, 1140 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073. The Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am with Dr. David Tarkington officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Orange Park, FL in remembrance of him would be greatly appreciated.
