Dewaine Howard Hafer, mostly known as DD to many, of Middleburg, FL passed away on April 11, 2021. Dewaine was born to Vincent Hafer and Helen Krantz on July 20th, 1942 in San Diego, California. He enlisted to serve his country on July 22nd, 1959, just 2 days after his 17th birthday. Dewaine was a Vietnam War veteran, where he was promoted to sergeant and earned several medals. He selflessly and proudly served his country as a Marine for a total of 8 years.
Anyone, who had the pleasure of meeting Dewaine, would quickly agree that he was a strong willed and passionate man. His desire to help youth within the community led him to opening the non-profit organization called Tough Love Center Inc., in Leesburg, Florida.
Dewaine was loved and blessed by the Lord with a big family. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Mary Hafer, along with his sons and daughters, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews.
For anyone who would like to render last respects, there will be a viewing Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. A funeral will be held in his honor on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 9:30am at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 with Pastor Reggie Spires officiating and military honors rendered.
