Deward N. Brewer, 82, of Bostwick, FL passed away September 28, 2020. He was born August 23, 1938 in Bud, WV to the late Derwood and Marie (Sizemore) Brewer.
Deward graduated from Herndon High School in WV in 1955. He joined the Navy October 7, 1955 and was Honorably Discharged in August 19, 1959. Deward worked in the coal mines of West Virginia, then joined Pipelines Local Union 798 in 1966 as a Pipeline Welder. He worked on Pipelines all over the world, including Nigeria, Venezuela, and also on the famous Alaskan Pipeline. After retiring as a pipeline welder, Deward worked as a Welding Inspector on several major Pipeline projects before retiring completely. Deward enjoyed going to church and was a beloved father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carroll DeFilippo.
Deward is survived by his sons, Sonny (Cissy) and Danny Brewer; daughters, Tambara Pollard and Kelly Brewer Williams; brother, Harry Paul Hollins (Glenda); sister, Vicky Shrewsberry (David); brother-in-law, Tony DeFilippo; grandchildren, Jason Pollard, Cadee Petty, Kenneth B. Brewer, Jr. (Amaiya), Baily Wilkenson, Patrick O’Conner, Jordyn Branham (Joshua) and Jakob Williams; great-grandchildren, Tom Crews, Cambree Crews, Garrett Pollard, Charlee Brewer, Ellee Petty, Daniel Pollard, Merle Petty, Kace Branham, LeiLa Register, Kash Branham, Mason Register and Jade Register; nephews, Bobby DeFilippo, Michael DeFilippo, Andy Hollins and Billy Shrewsberry; and nieces, Tracey Hollins and Kristy Hollins.
A memorial service will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, October 3, 2020 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Pastor Bill Clayton officiating.
