In Loving Memory of Diane “Penny” Pica (Doherty)
Diane “Penny” Doherty Pica was born on May 24, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away in Orange Park, Florida on December 10, 2019. She was 83 years old.
Diane was educated in Boston, Massachusetts and achieved her educational goals of becoming a certified nurse who served the Orange Park area for over 40 years. Her broad range of skills allowed her to work in multiple positions for several prominent and well known doctors. A highly skilled nurse, Diane always made people around her feel at comfort and at home.
Diane was a dedicated mother of seven who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana to her sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who she loved dearly. Diane lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and devoted Naval officer’s wife. In her free time, she loved raising poodles, spending time at the beach, gardening and above all else, caring for others.
Diane is predeceased by her two amazing husbands, each of 27 years, Edward F. Doherty and Joseph N. Pica. She is survived by her seven children, Edward Doherty Jr. (Amela), John Doherty (Susan), Jeff Doherty (Joann), Mark Doherty, Pamela (Michael Petty), Stewart McNeil (Sheryl) and Marc Pica (Shea), her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass in loving memory of Diane “Penny” Pica on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Pendergraft as celebrant.
