Don Alan Dickson

November 26, 1959 — December 12, 2021

Don Alan Dickson, passed away on December 12, 2021.  He was born on November 26, 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Clay County in 1964 where he lived his entire life.

Don was preceded in death by his father Wallace Hunt Dickson; mother Mary Bowden Dickson; and his wife Linda Gail Dickson. Don is survived by his brothers Wallace Keith (Laura) Dickson and Mark Dwain Dickson (Valerie); sister Sherry Lynn Miller (Jeff); step-mother Pauline Dickson; step-brothers Curtis Wells (Karen) and Craig Wells; and step-sister Candice Wilson (Bob).

After moving to Orange Park, Don played years of baseball and football at OPAA along with his brothers and sister as a cheerleader.  Don and his family were well known at OPAA where his father coached and his mother was team mom.  Don went on to play baseball and football at Orange Park High School.

After high school, Don worked professionally in the tire business as a store manager and later worked with his brother Mark in lawn care where they built a business together that served over 120 customers in Duval and Clay counties for more than 10 years

Sports was a passion for Don, after high school, he played adult softball with his brothers and some good friends where they played in leagues and local tournaments for nearly ten years and won several tournaments with Don as an anchor at third base.  Don was also a NASCAR fan and loved Dale Earnheart probably because Don thought of himself as a bit of an "intimidator".  Football was also a passion for Don and he was a huge fan of the Florida Gators.  Another thing that Don had a passion and gift for was plants.  He had his own greenhouse and loved starting with clippings and nourishing and grooming it up to be a beautiful feature plant.  He loved to show people his garden and always loved giving something away to family or friends.

Don was a competitor and he fought hard to be the best he could be at everything he did.  He was a good brother and a good son and a good friend to many.  He loved his family and friends and if you knew Don you will remember the good time we had together.

A memorial is planned for Don on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Dickson house where he lived for more than 60 years.  We will celebrate his life with family and friends and food and memories of the good ole days.  Anyone interested in attending please contact Don's brother Mark on FB or a family member for more details.
