Donald Wayne Vancas (78) a long-time resident of Orange Park, Florida was born in Joliet, Illinois on December 17, 1941. He went home to be with the Lord, October 7, 2020 after a brief illness. Preceded in death by his father, Francis Vancas, and his mother, Catherine Vidmar Vancas, and brother-in law, George Dehm, of Joliet, Illinois and his grandson, Evan William Lockner of Carmel, Indiana. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Dick Vancas, sister, Judy Dehm of Joliet, Illinois, sons; Randall James Lockner (Kelly) of Carmel, Indiana and Dr. Jonathan Wayne Lockner (Alyssa) of San Diego, California, grandsons, Justin Randall Lockner, Nathan Thomas Lockner, Logan Davis Lockner from Carmel Indiana, Jackson Edward Lockner and Juliana Grace Lockner of San Diego, California, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Don honorably served his country in the Army. He passionately loved his country and all its first responders. He was a valued employee of GMAC for 30 years, a parishioner of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion. Don will be forever remembered for his giving heart and freely donated to many non-profit organizations, loved to help his friends and neighbors on household projects and was often found lending a hand. A great husband, father and Papa who will be forever missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Broadus-Raines Chapel on Thursday, October 15 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation in memory of his grandson, Evan William Lockner. Don will be laid to rest with full military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery on October 15 at 12:30 p.m.
