Donald Allen Wahl

March 22, 1948 — September 30, 2021

Donald Allen Wahl, 73, of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully September 30, 2021. He courageously fought cancer that was diagnosed this past June. Even though he lost the physical battle, we are comforted knowing he is totally healed and at peace with our Heavenly Father.

Born to Leonard and Lenore Wahl on March 22, 1948, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Don grew up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota where he graduated from high school. He attended Bemidji State College, then joined the Navy in 1969 serving both active and reserve for a total of 24 years. Don also had a very successful 31-year career with Pitney Bowes.

As a faithful, dedicated member of Orange Park United Methodist Church, Don was loved by all. Since 1970, he donated his beautiful voice to the church choir and had fun with the men’s group, The Dynamics. He loved mentoring the youth while participating on several mission trips. Don was always assisting in numerous campus projects. After attending his first Walk to Emmaus, he enjoyed returning as a team member on future weekends. He also volunteered weekly at the Clothes Closet in Orange Park. Known for his faith, kindness and love shown through his dedication to family, church and friends, Don always left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing locally and wherever he traveled. He might not have always taken his beloved Airstream, but he never left home without his golf clubs. Whether golfing, camping, kayaking, or skiing, Don just enjoyed being outdoors.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lenore Wahl, and his previous wife, Joanie Weiss Wahl, whom he selflessly cared for until her death. After many years of living on his own, God blessed him with another love, Kristi Lee, whom he married in 2018. Don is also survived by daughters Jennifer Gerush and Tiffany (Alan) Martin, stepson Matt (Tiffany) Weiss, and grandchildren Brookelyn and Ava Gerush, Jenna and Jocelyn Martin, Willow and Wyatt Weiss. Also surviving are his siblings Richard (Deb) Wahl and Kevin (Kathy) Wahl, and Chris (Duane) Berg and numerous nieces and nephews. Don loved his family and was very proud of each one’s accomplishments.
