Donald John Zupan, 78 years old, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 in his St. Augustine, FL home surrounded by his family. He was born to Leo and Emma (Zorn) Zupan on February 24, 1943 in Cleveland, OH, grew up in their home on Bidwell Avenue, and graduated from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, OH. He attended Valparaiso Technical Institute and Cleveland State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Don enjoyed a long career in electric utilities, working 33 years at Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company/FirstEnergy, followed by 13 years at Black & Veatch. He had a love of travel, polkas, fishing, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and video documenting family memories. He was a devout Catholic, a member, and lector at Sacred Heart Church on Fleming Island, FL. Above all, his greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marsha (Magyar) Zupan; their children, Douglas Zupan (Linnea) and LoriAnn Kociba (Greg); his 6 precious grandchildren Emma, Alex, Lucia, Josh, Melaina and Dean; his sister in-law, Mary Jo Zupan-Miller (Dana) and brother in-law, Norman Magyar (Sandra); and his niece, Allison Zupan and nephews, Matt Zupan, JM Magyar, and Matt Magyar. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis Zupan.
A Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am on February 24, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Sebastian Garcia as celebrant.
